Chesapeake Bayfront Cottage - Magothy River - Dividing Creek


WELCOME!... This 4BR 2BA summer cottage was built by a millionare in the thirties and retains much of it's feel with large wood beam ceilings in the living and dining rooms. The whole house has been insulated and HVAC is all new. The 4 ton central air along with the ceiling fans insure cool summer days and cozy nights. The livingroom sports an impressive fireplace made of symetrical natural sandstone and the basement playroom is complete with a (natural gas) wood burning stove, a foosball table, a ping pong table and a 32" TV VCR/DVD/Digital Cable and CD player.

The home has a massive screened in porch facing due east overlooking a scenic water paradise. This is our first year renting and we feel this is the perfect waterfront getaway for anyone visiting the Baltimore Washington area. Located off the Magothy River, Dividing Creek is one of the most beautiful in Maryland. Water depth is impressive at 10' at the end of the pier. A large lower level makes a perfect spot for family picnics or parties. Plenty of clean lawn chairs stored in the shed are available. Fishing rods, crab traps, two kayaks, a pedal boat, a 14' row boat (w/ oars), life vests and inflatable tubes are there for your enjoyment at no extra cost. For boat owners, a 10,000 lb boat lift is available for your use. Walkers, cyclists, and other trail advocates can use the East Coast Greenway, a traffic-free path linking East Coast cities from Maine to Florida. The trail is less than a mile from the cottage.

The house has four bedrooms with two queen beds, and two twin beds with roll-out trundels underneath sleeping a total of 8 people. Two rollaway's add sleeping for another two downstairs. A small galley kitchen has all new modern appliances. The large driveway will park four to five cars easily.

The location and natural beauty of this land is unrivaled and was valued by indians as well. Walk down the 18 rock steps to one of the most desirable, wide, deep water and weather protected creeks on the Chesapeake Bay. Blue Herons, Ducks and Canadian Geese are your neighbors . Steamed crabs, corn-on-the-cob and a cold brew is your celebration. Crab and fish right off the pier.

OFF PEAK ...................................... $1395/week.
June-July-August .......................... $1750/week.

Deposits/Full Payment Requirements:
In order to hold the reservation, the Security/Holding deposit of $500.00 is due immediately. Full rental payment is expected 30 days prior to check-in or your reservation and deposit will be considered forfeited. The deposit will not be refunded, if the reservation is canceled for any reason. The deposit less damages will be refunded by mail approximately one to three weeks after departure date. All deposit refunds are made by check. After all said payments are received you will receive a mailed receipt, confirmation letter and proper entry directions.

Arrival/Departure Times:
Vacation weeks are from Saturday to Saturday, with check-in anytime after 3:00 pm and check-out at 10:00 am. Please do not show up early or leave late because we must use the vacant time to clean and do necessary maintenance.

Rules and Regulations:
Guests agree to follow these policies to avoid loss and/or deduction of deposit or rental moneys and under some circumstances (such as violations of these policies) guests will be asked to vacate the property immediately.

  • No smoking permitted. (In the house or on the porch)
  • No unruly disturbances please. The rental property is a private residence in a residential neighborhood and any loud disturbances at night may bring unexpected visits from the local police department.
  • No pets. (Unless agreed upon)
  • The books, videos and games are for your enjoyment while at the house; please do not remove from the premises. If removed, a $25.00 fee will be charged per book, video and/or game.
  • Lock and secure all doors when out.
  • Guests accepting responsibility for the property must be 21 years or older.
  • The management will not be responsible for accidents or injuries to guests, or for loss of money, jewelry and other valuables during their stay.
  • Vacate on departure date and time.
  • And finally, your group must acquire a minimum of 50 hours of high quality rest and relaxation. Vegetating out on the porch, the hot tub, or floating in the creek is good for the soul. Have a great week!

Pet Security:
Small pets (20 lbs. or less) may be allowed if, AND ONLY IF, prior arrangements are made. An additional $50.00 per week will be required. No pets are allowed on any of the furniture! If the furniture is damaged because of the pets, the $500 deposit will not be returned.

Guests understand that the rental property is a private residence and as such agree to identify any loss or damage inflicted to the home or its contents during guests stay to John or Marianne at 410-491-2019. Property is inspected after each guests departure. Guests are asked to leave the rental and its contents in the same condition as upon occupancy. It is the guests responsibility to report any problems or damages immediately. Damages found after departure will be assumed to be the liability of the guests. Property manager has the authority to inspect the property during the guests stay.

The Security/Holding deposit will not be returned, if there is a cancellation for any reason. Cancellation for any reason within the thirty days prior to check-in will result in forfeiture of half of rental moneys that have been collected.

The telephone is on a limited access, therefore, all local calls are available to the guests. However, and any long distance calls require a calling card or credit card call.

Slip Rental/Slip Guest Parking:
Guests may be able to rent one of the deep water slips at our pier. Please call and ask if this is a need of yours, as these slips are often occupied. Slip guests may have cars parked in the driveway in parking spaces nearest the street, and may be aboard their sailboats. As a house guest, if you have three or more cars in your party we will try and arrange to have the slip guest(s) park in our other yard which is two doors down (the log cabin).

Housekeeping Services:
The house is equipped with two sets of linens per bed and 2 sets of towels per person. The guests are welcome to use the washer and dryer for their use while renting. Although the property receives a thorough cleaning and inventory upon your departure, all guests are asked to leave the property in the same condition as upon occupancy. Guests will be responsible to leave dishes, utensils and appliances clean. All trash is to be disposed in the trash receptacles outside. Upon departure, we ask guests to leave all soiled linens and towels and place them in the laundry shoot. Leave blankets/bedspreads as found.

In the event that the Owners are unable to deliver said Property to Tenant under this lease agreement prior to occupancy because of fire, eminent domain, act of nature, double booking, delay in construction or any other reason whatsoever, Tenant hereby agrees that the Owners sole liability as a result of any of these conditions is the full refund of all consideration previously tendered by Tenant.

Joint and Several Liability:
All guests shall be jointly and severally liable for all terms and conditions set forth in this agreement.
