Welcome to the Berner Haus Estate - our year round private vacation rental home. At the Berner Haus you will be awed not only by the rich details of this superbly designed home, but also by the most spectacular view of the entire Sunday River Resort, Bethel Valley and the Mahoosuc Mountain Range. Featured on the cover of Cyberrentals International Rental Guidebook and awarded their "Best View" honor, Berner Haus is an incredibly luxurious 7000 sq ft (entire house) post and beam style mountain home. Here you will be treated with the abundant amenities of a luxurious resort, but with all the conveniences a home has to offer, combining for the perfect vacation or reunion your family will never forget!
Bed arrangements include 2 kings, 1 queen, 3 queen sleeper sofas (two of which are in the private movie theater which has a closet and makes a fun sleeping area for kids or teens), 3 twins, 2 full height portable twins (for the loft) and a full height portable queen. Baby/toddler equipment is supplied. If requested, the kitchen and bar are stocked to help make you feel at home and provide you with more time to relax, so you don’t need to spend any of your valuable vacation time shopping or even cooking if you don’t want to! Daily housekeeping and a chef are available at your request for an additional charge. Our goal is to provide you with the most relaxing and luxurious vacation possible. Berner Haus is in a great location. The views seriously cannot be beat, and you've got snow shoeing, sledding, cross country skiing, ice-skating and snowmobiling within walking distance of your front door. It is located on 6 private acres of land abutting several hundred acres of forested land. There are also two-way radios for perfect communication between the mountain and the Haus. And of course, the large hot tubs and steam rooms. It is fabulous! Picture yourself after a great day of skiing or hiking, sitting in the hot tub with great friends and a glass of wine, watching the snow cats groom the trails beneath your unobstructed view of the fireworks (It really is that awesome!). WINTER Sunday River is Maine's premier four season mountain lift resort, featuring 126 trails and glades and the East's most modern and efficient lift system with 18 lifts, including four high speed quads. With the largest and most powerful snowmaking system in New England, Sunday River offers Legendary Sunday River snow on all eight interconnected mountains. Nine out of ten skiers and riders agree that, year after year, Sunday River has the most dependable snow in America from October through May. Mt. Abram Ski Resort, located on Rt. 26 in Locke Mills is just a stone's throw away from Bethel. Visit the new Westside Base Lodge which features superior log construction and a fireplace to warm up by. The Bethel Area is also Maine's #1 destination for cross country skiing, with more than 100 kilometers of skiing at five ski centers and additional opportunities to ski in the White Mountain National Forest, in Grafton Notch State Park and on local snowmobile trails. Maine in the winter is an explorer's paradise. Recently Western Maine has experienced a boom in snowmobiling and due to a lot of hard work by local enthusiasts, a trail system has come to the Bethel Area that can give you endless miles of beautiful riding and scenery. In the White Mt. National Forest, snowmobiling is permitted on groomed trails only. From your door at Berner Haus, you can enjoy unlimited miles of some of the East's best-groomed snowmobile and cross-country ski trails, sledding, ice skating, backcountry skiing, snow-shoeing, hiking and biking trails. Within a five minute drive, you can enjoy skiing, snowboarding, telemarking, snow tubing, ice skating, dog sledding, skijoring, horse drawn carriage rides, fine dining, weekend family shows hosted by the Mountain, water slides, boating, kayaking, the S. R. Mountain bike park, tennis, mini-golf and the new Trent Jones Championship Golf course (spring ‘04). Within a 10 minute drive, you can enjoy indoor rock climbing, laser tag, movie theater, bowling, night skiing at Mt. Abram, and shopping in the quaint Bethel Village. Within a 45 minute drive you can hike Mt. Washington's Tuckerman's Ravine for some extreme backcountry skiing, ice climb, shop the outlets in North Conway, take the Cog Railway to the top of Mt. Washington to experience what extreme weather really is, and view hundreds of miles of Maine and New Hampshire from one spot. Visit Storybook Land or The Old West. Shop in Gorham's charming village. SPRING As we all know, nothing beats a great day of spring skiing! Join hundreds of other ski enthusiasts at the annual Tuckerman's Ravine pilgrimage any weekend in late April or May for a real adventure! Watch for Moose and even the occasional bear out your window at the Berner Haus. They really come alive this time of year! The whitewater created by the spring snow melt provides for some exciting river kayaking and canoeing on the Sunday River, just a walk or short drive away. Never a dull moment around here! SUMMER At the Berner Haus, you will again be awed with the most spectacular view anywhere of all Sunday River Ski Resort's 8 mountains, the Bethel Valley and the Mahoosuc Mountain Range and the Sunday River itself. Enjoy the large inground pool, patio, pool house and wet bar. From the pool you can look out over the house towards the beautiful mountain vistas. Within walking distance of Berner Haus, you can enjoy marked and wild hiking trails, mountain biking, and 4-wheeling. In summer, swimming in some of Sunday River's swimming holes, or sliding down Frenchman's hole waterfall is both exciting and refreshing. Canoe or fish in the beautiful Androscoggin River. Take tennis lessons or play at the Bethel Inn Championship Golf course. Or, if that's not your speed, try some miniature golf, boating, laser tag, volleyball, or indoor rock climbing at the Big Adventure Center, all within a 10 minute drive. Within 45 mintues, enjoy all that the White Mountain National Forest has to offer, including the auto road, cog railway, caverns and cave exploring, excellent hiking, theme parks, water parks, outlet shopping, museums, and scenic railways. The ocean and all that has to offer is about 1 1/4 hrs from the Haus. FALL One of the best times of the year for the spectacular beauty that only New England can provide. Just look at these views from Berner Haus. Enjoy one of the many fall festivals and fairs in the community. Enjoy a day of clean fresh air hiking, mountain biking or golfing. Go apple or pumpkin picking at one of the local farms after a morning of horseback riding through the mountain range. Take a drive along the Scenic Highway of Rt. 26 to see an inevitable moose, the rock formations of Grafton Notch State Park and the awe inspiring Dixfield Notch, then lunch at the historic Balsams. Go antiquing in Bethel and the Oxford Hills area. The opportunities for a wonderful and relaxing vacation abound.
