How often do you find a mountain retreat that offers both of the things people come to the mountains for - a beautiful stream and fabulous views? The Cascades offers you both at their finest. At a cool 5000 ft. elevation perched right beside a gorgeous, private, double cascades - this custom built and designed retreat offers views from every room in the house.

The open downstairs floorplan offers views of the cascades on one side, close up views of a 5600 ft. mountain on another, and finally 20 mile views of the Great Smokies on the next. In addition, a large porch off the kitchen takes you almost right over the cascades. The two upstairs bedrooms offer the same breathtaking views with lots of glass in all rooms of the house. Open up your windows and be lulled to sleep or awakened to the sound of a gentle mountain stream. Surround by hundreds of acres to explore only a ten minute walk takes you to a beautiful 100 ft. waterfall while a 1.5 mile hike takes you to Black Rock. At 5800 ft. Black Rock is simply one of the finest views in the Great Smokies. A 360° panorama with 20-30 mile views in every direction. Another 1/2 mile trail leads to sunset point. You can't find a better spot to watch the sunset over the Smokies anywhere.

Description/Amenities:
The house features queen sized beds in each bedroom and a futonin the living room and will sleep up to seven. A fully furnished kitchen, wood burning fireplace, Jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom.

While created to offer you a place to truly get away from it all, the Cascades is located just outside Cherokee, North Carolina, an ideal place from which to explore Western North Carolina. Rafting, fishing, Blue Ridge Parkway, amusement parks are all within easy reach. Asehville is one hour away with great shopping, dining, and entertainment including the Biltmore house and the NC Arboretum.

    Useful Items To Bring:
  • Bug repellent, although the bugs are generally not a problem.
  • Warm clothing; the temperature generally runs about 10 degrees cooler than Asheville due to the high elevation. You can also check the current conditions at weather.com.
  • Extra towels for rafting excursions in Cherokee, for use at the creek, or in the yard. Towels provided are not to be removed from the house.
  • Cameras, binoculars and a telescope - if you have one!

    The Cascades is available for nightly and weekly rental from March 2 through January 1.

    The nightly rate is $160
    (Special rate of $150 through the end of the summer!) with a 3 night minimum.

    Stay six nights, and get the seventh night free!

    Weekly rates are $900. Inquire about rates for extended stays at Cascades.
